Altona Rare Earths is the old Altona Energy, which joined AIM in 2005. Its problematic large coal project in Australia never got off the ground. Delisting was looming, so Altona switched to the Aquis Exchange. New management sensibly changed the focus to critical minerals, seeking a mining project that could be in production within three years. With the Monte Muambe REE project in place, the company joined the LSE in mid-2023. Today, Altona is being led by Africa-based CEO Cédric Simonet, who has an in-depth knowledge of the Continent’s resources projects & is a trained geologist.
