Richmond Hill Resources (RHR ) has mobilised a drill crew for work on its Martello gold project near Dryden in north-western Ontario.

The drill rig is expected to be in position this week.

The planned programme comprises nine diamond drillholes for approximately 1,400 metres from six drill pads.

Three holes are designed to provide modern verification of the main Sakoose vein at depths of between approximately 80 metres and 150 metres vertical.

The remaining six are aimed to test the continuity of the vein between these positions, its down-plunge extension to the west, its extension beneath the historical workings at Shaft 1, the eastern limit of the workings, and a structural zone where the vein is interpreted to widen.

The Martello gold project is Richmond Hill’s principal gold exploration asset, and comprises 202 mining claims covering approximately 6,750 hectares.

The company’s immediate exploration focus is the historic Sakoose gold mine, where past production and historical drilling provide evidence of high-grade gold mineralisation. Planned diamond drilling will test the continuity and geological controls of this mineralisation.

Good to see Richmond Hill getting its winter campaign underway, following the fundraising a couple of weeks ago. Martello looks highly prospective and it will be intriguing to see what the results look like when they come out. If they’re good, it will be a big feather in Richmond’s cap – Ontario is a great place to go mining and although gold is weaker than it has been this year, prices are still at historically high levels.
