Georgina Energy (GEX)  has completed the water well required for its planned Q3 drilling programme at the Hussar prospect in Western Australia, with site and camp preparation continuing ahead of the targeted September 2026 spud date.

The completed well is delivering a consistent flow rate of between 250,000 and 350,000 litres per day, providing the water supply required for drilling operations. A proportion of the water will be purified using RO for use in ablutions and cooking.

The water well drilling rig will now move to the centre of the drilling pad to drill and set the 20-inch conductor pipe before the contracted Ensign Rig 970 arrives on site.

Meanwhile, civil engineering works have advanced, with excavation and waterproof lining of the Turkey's Nest water storage pond and drill-cuttings sump completed. Rolling and compacting of the drilling and camp pads has also commenced, while site grading and trimming are complete.

Gravel has been delivered and graded at the camp pad, with further material being transported to the access road. Additional gravel supplies are already in place.

The Hussar prospect covers more than 300 square kilometres and is among the largest untested subsalt helium, hydrogen and hydrocarbon prospects onshore Australia.

The planned re-entry of Exploration Permit 513 in the Officer Basin will target subsalt formations including the Townsend Formation and fractured Neoproterozoic basement for helium, hydrogen and natural gas. The well is planned to reach a Total Depth of about 3,200 metres, with the potential to drill deeper depending on gas occurrences and reservoir quality.

An Independent Geological Report dated 1 February 2026 estimates unrisked net attributable 2U Prospective Resources of 283 billion cubic feet of helium, 315 billion cubic feet of hydrogen and 2.93 trillion cubic feet of hydrocarbon gas.

Georgina Energy Chief Executive Officer Anthony Hamilton said: “Completion of the water well on site is crucial to our planned drilling operation; the operation requires a reliable and significant water supply which we now have in place. This represents another important achievement in the necessary works to expedite mobilisation of the Ensign 970 drill rig to drill test this exciting prospect in September 2026.”

The completion of the water well removes an important infrastructure requirement ahead of the Hussar drilling campaign. With site works progressing and the September spud date still on target, attention now turns to conductor installation and mobilisation of the Ensign Rig 970.
