Winshear Metals (WINS ) has extended the known areas of high-grade mineralisation at the Rodburn target on the Portsoy nickel project in its latest round of drilling.
In the South Zone of Rodburn, the first hole drilled extended the high-grade mineralisation 100 meters down-dip from earlier high-grade intercepts, returning 8.15 metres grading 0.77% nickel, 1.14% copper, and 0.05% cobalt.
An additional hole intersected four metres grading 0.29% nickel and 0.18% copper a further 100 metres downdip. This intercept is interpreted to represent the mineralized halo peripheral to the massive sulphide mineralisation that has been identified in downhole electromagnetic surveying.
Meanwhile in the North Zone at Rodburn, drilling extended mineralization 100 metres to the west of previously drilled holes, and returned attractive nickel, copper and cobalt grades.
“These drill results support our view that Rodburn is part of a well-mineralized nickel-copper-cobalt system,” said Richard Williams, chief executive of Winshear.
“Further drilling will be required to continue expanding and defining the extent of mineralization, but the work completed this year has delivered against the key objectives we set for the program. We have successfully expanded the footprint of high-grade mineralization, demonstrated that downhole electromagnetic surveying can detect and help guide future drilling for massive sulphide mineralization, and confirmed that the mineralization responds well to conventional flotation processing, with the potential to produce marketable nickel and copper concentrates.”

Good progress from Winshear. The company now plans to drill test the newly identified conductor at the South Zone in the next phase of drilling, alongside further step-out holes to continue expanding the North and South Zones. That’ll be work worth paying attention to.
