Quantum Data Energy  (QDE) has completed construction and commissioning at its 7.5MW Hindlip flexible generation project, with the asset now mechanically and electrically complete and commercial operations expected shortly.

The project, which is fully funded in partnership with Powertree, achieved grid energisation on 15 July 2026 and completed G99 grid compliance testing on 22 July.

All three Rolls-Royce MTU gensets have now been commissioned and passed performance testing, while grid constraint testing has also been completed.

Quantum said the project had been delivered below its approved £5 million capex budget. Final forecast expenditure stands at about £4.63 million, representing a saving of around £370,000.

Civil engineering, electrical and gas installation works have also been completed, with gas now supplied to the gensets. Site infrastructure, including the control room, CCTV and oil storage facilities, is fully operational.

The company added that all items on the project's risk register have now been closed, including issues related to difficult ground conditions encountered during National Grid Electricity Distribution cable installation works.

The remaining steps before full commercial operations are the finalisation of operations and maintenance arrangements, formal genset sign-off, and final snagging and handover. Quantum expects Hindlip to enter commercial operations during the third quarter of 2026.
