Georgina Energy (GEX)  has started pre-drilling civil engineering works at its Hussar prospect in EP513, Western Australia, marking another step towards its planned re-entry drilling campaign.

The move follows the signing of a drilling contract with Ensign Australia for the Ensign 970 rig, which is expected to reach the key subsalt reservoir targets at Hussar, including the Townsend Formation and fractured Neoproterozoic basement.

Independent assessments have estimated 2U SPE PRMS recoverable prospective resources at the prospect of 283 billion cubic feet of helium, 315 billion cubic feet of hydrogen, and 2,925 billion cubic feet of hydrocarbon gas.

Meanwhile, contractors have mobilised to site, with access works now underway. This includes widening and grading the existing airstrip at the Hussar 1 well to accommodate crew change aircraft, alongside installation of a new Civil Aviation Safety Authority-compliant wind direction indicator.

In addition, the main access route along a historic 1984 seismic line is being assessed and upgraded to support heavy transport movements, with more than 50 semi-trailer or B-double truck journeys expected to support the campaign. Site preparation will also include clearing and compacting the drilling and camp locations, as well as installing on-site water wells.

Moving ahead, Georgina’s technical team and consultants from Aztech Well Construction are expected on site in June to oversee inspections and final work programmes, ensuring compliance with the approved Well Management Plan submitted by subsidiary Westmarket Oil & Gas in 2025.

Georgina is moving from planning into execution at Hussar, with ground works now providing visible progress ahead of drilling. Given the scale of the independently assessed prospective resource, the upcoming re-entry well will be a key operational milestone for investors watching the company’s helium and hydrogen exploration ambitions.
