4. The average UK house price fell by £10,000 in July compared with a month earlier, as the housing market appeared to cool after the phasing out of the stamp duty holiday.
The average UK house price was £256,000 in July, which was £19,000 higher than a year earlier, according to data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
