5. Major computer chip equipment maker ASML says a former employee in China stole information about its technology.

The Dutch firm says it has since reported the breach to authorities in the Netherlands and the US.

4. Barclays  said it was tightening lending criteria for coal power and would stop financing oil sands exploration and production, but did not announce new restrictions on oil and gas lending as some rivals have.

The bank extended a previously announced plan to phase out financing for clients involved in coal-fired power generation by 2030 from the UK and European Union, to include other countries in the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development.

3. Fast food chain McDonald's is putting the price of five of its menu items up as cost of living pressures continue to squeeze struggling households.

It said higher food and energy costs mean it will put up its prices from Wednesday.Last summer the fast food giant put up the price of a cheeseburger for the first time in more than 14 years.

2. Ofgem has revealed that the end of forced installation of controversial energy prepayment meters only extends until the end of March.

The watchdog said the date, that household energy suppliers had agreed to, also included a temporary halt to remote transfers for customers currently on smart meters.

1. Prices for olive oil, sugar and low-fat milk have surged with food costs continuing to fuel inflation in the UK.

Food inflation is at a 45-year high and overall UK price inflation fell for the third month in a row to 10.1% in the year to January from 10.5% in December.
